Jamie’s intent is to create an emotional language of abstract painting and mixed media installation, using a rich vocabulary of imagery that emerges from personal memories and dreams. Her work evolves without sketches or preconceived designs, which results in a spontaneous and forceful effect. The images are then transferred on canvas or on the wall as a story between reality and the subconscious. The colors and materials used in her paintings and installations are reborn into her own creative images. There is a tension and release which result from asymmetrical clustering of radial patterns, such as floral petals and other natural shapes often pierced with sharp geometric lines and shapes. Combining traditional and non-traditional materials (some of which are ink, airbrushed acrylics, fabric, paint, colored paper, and glitter) leads to the creation of something never imagined.
