Lauren SILVA
(b. 1987, American)
Lauren Silva's works were painted, printed and collaged and most importantly glitched. The glitch effect is now refers to the practiced skill of deviation and a positive phenomenon for new generation’s aesthetes. The computer-generated images would impress slightly more if painted; the ephemeral imagery of the Internet translated into a physical art, rather than borrowed from it. However, the paintings become intensely saturated semi-abstractions with much of their luminescence to the creative employ of silk rather than canvas by the artist.

Born in the Bay Area in 1987, Lauren Silva received her BA from UCLA and her MFA from Columbia University, where she received the Tobey Devan Lewis award. She also attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Her work has been reviewed and featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, Artforum, Art in America, New American Paintings, Artinfo and Artnet. Silva lives in Manhattan and is currently an adjunct professor in the Visual Arts department at Columbia University.
