Sunkoo YUH creates complex and dynamic porcelain structures that contain a hybrid of influences. These influences are collected from cultural and mythical references, as well as public observations and people watching. Yuh’s sculptural creations originate from dense drawings of people and animals that he observed in his daily life, with an overlay of the artist's imagination.
Sunkoo Yuh was born in Korea. The artist received his BFA from Hong-ik University in Seoul and his MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred, New York. His works have been included in many international exhibitions including those held by the Navy Pier (Chicago), The Clay Studio (Philadelphia, USA), Mindy Solomon Gallery (St. Petersburg, FL, USA), Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum (Washington D.C.), and the Phoenix Convention Center (Phoenix, AZ, USA).
