Younghoon BAHK
(1965, Korea)
Lives and works in Seoul
Younghoon BAHK is a multimedia artist concerned with the vague boundary between the visible and invisible. While his early works were pale in color and homogenous in technique, his recent works take on a more colorful, dynamic approach that reflects the liberal way in which the artist lives.

Bahk creates in multiple mediums with his work often depicting how digital images can be produced in analog ways. He is perhaps most recognized for his dotted paintings where only colors or images are visible depending on the viewer’s distance. These works have the ability to unmask the tension between what we are able to see and understand, employing the limit of humanity’s visual perception. They are created in a delicate and repetitive manner, fluctuating between flat and three dimensions and inadvertently expressing humanity’s unconscious cravings.
