Inspired by visual experiences and the imagination, Nayul Kim overlaps abstract shapes and digital images to produce visually complex paintings and display an invisible world. Her large paintings decorated with both muted and primary colors grasps at our attention and keeps us fixated on the potential for another world aside from our own, whether it be in our imagination or in reality.
Nayul KIM was born in Korea in 1982. In 2007, she received her BFA in Painting from Hongik University. Her work has been featured in its first solo exhibition in 2018 at Space XX in Seoul. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions since 2009 around Hong Kong, Seoul, Utrecht (Netherlands), Brisbane (Australia), and Shanghai. In 2011, she was a finalist for the Sovereign Asian Art Prize. Her work has been featured in auctions at Christie’s auction house.
Kim currently lives and works in Seoul.
