"Alternative time and space is one of my main responses to photographs." -Yuki Yamazaki
Yuki Yamazaki’s black and white photographs explore variations of time through aerial views. Yamazaki’s unique visual perspective discusses the relationship between the past and the modern digital age.
In his series ‘New Order’, two layers of aerial photography from Yamazaki’s hometown are combined. Afterwards, a spread of 3D data is used as an overlay. Much of his inspiration comes from memories of his childhood living in fear of an earthquake. Living in Japan meant that these risks were always close, and that fear is now ingrained in his mind. Time therefore becomes ironically complex in his work - an unpredictable moment of the future is at fear in the present based on situations of the past.
