From seeing to seeing – the act of 'seeing' has the power to see another one without stopping at the one.
Hyo Jin KIM paints the energy that she senses from ordinary and usual scenes she sees. She often spreads out the myriad possibilities derived from the scenes, and imagines the next possible one.
There isn't any intended story or event in the image she makes. While there is some image she wants to draw from her consciousness, it keeps changing and mixing in the process and turns into another. The vague forms and distorted spaces would contain multilayered chances in ambiguity.
KIM received her MA in Painting from Royal College of Art, UK in 2015 and took Student Exchange programme at Dusseldorf Kunst Academie, Germany in 2014. Her BFA in Fine Art Painting was received from Kookmin University in Korea Republic in 2008. She has held solo and group exhibitions including at KIMI Art Gallery, Seoul; at Gallery Grida, Seoul; at Royal College of Art, London; at Art Dubai 2015, Madinat Jumeirah; at SCHWARTZ GALLERY, London; at Blyth Gallery in London and at Kookmin Art Gallery, Seoul.
